QR Codes

A QR Code is a matrix code (or two-dimensional bar code) created by Japanese corporation Denso-Wave in 1994. The "QR" is derived from "Quick Response", as the creator intended the code to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed. QR Codes are common in Japan, where they are currently the most popular type of two dimensional codes. Moreover, most current Japanese mobile phones can read this code with their camera.

--Wikipedia

My boss and I were doing some research on making "Discount Cards" for our medicine lines. I was instructed to research on a coding system for these cards. I encountered magnetic stripe swipe cards, barcoded cards... but they are just too way out of budget for a trial run. I came across one that caught my attention... QR CODES.
Easy to use and easy to make! I'm still exploring the possibilities of these being used in our discount cards.

Then I remembered that I have a DC Kids mag that has a QR code... I thought, maybe my friends who have indie comics can use this somehow.

Well here are some links on QR Code creators that I find user-friendly.

I-Nigma.Com - it has an easy to use and understand QR Code maker and Reader. Explore the site and find out if your phone is compatible with their application.

Nokia Mobile Codes
- has links and instructions.

I hope with these infos my friends can make use of this in their comics.

By the way, here's a QR Code of mine.

The QR code by the way can be used instead for a barcode or as a promotional thingy. I'll research more of these QR codes.

By the way, I found this online QR decoder.
ZXing Decoder

You see, these QR Codes carry certain infos of the product they are attached to. For Example, you can put QR codes to your Business Card to make it a little more high-tech!
Here's an article about that: Click Here!

There! I hope this article will be usefull.

Got me a New Office Printer! Yey!

Finally, after months of agony and suffering, I'm saved!!! My boss got me a new Canon Pixma iP1980 Printer with continuous ink.
The printer is so quiet compared with my old Epson Stylus c90 printer. My c90 was a great help for me though. It has been the office printer since 2006. And it was passed on to me when I got hired in 2008. So basically, it served its purpose. After tons of printing jobs ( i mean tons!) and a few trips to the technician, my printer finally showed signs of retirement. Wear and tear got into it's internal mechanism. It makes hell lot of noise when printing, specially in draft mode. Until last april, it began to make an awefull noise when paper feeding. I tell you, it's so annoying! Then after a few more days, it wont paper feed by itself anymore! You must literally push the paper in for it to print. And it gets paper jam often. Imagine pushing in almost hundreds of paper pages!

But I'm thankful for now that I have a new printer! Thank you boss!

Drawing Post #2

Kiddo

Real Name: Miguelito Banaag
Birth Date: April 13, 1990
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 110 lbs
Base of Operation: Pampanga and Nearby towns

Powers and Weapons:

  • Extremely Sharp Retractable Claws and Teeth
  • Superhuman Strength and Agility
  • Enhanced Self Healing
  • Hightened Senses
  • Berserker Form (happens in a limited span of time because of extreme anger and adrenaline rush)
  • Natural talent of Creating Improvised Weapons

Story:

Celia was raped by one of her suitors after refusing the love it offered. The suitor happened to be a Horde Commander of an Aswang Clan planning to attack the Luzon Area. The unholy act resulted to the pregnancy of Celia, Kiddo's mother. After learning about his suitor's real identity(which happened to be the time she was being raped, maybe because of exhilirating feeling of sex, the commander was unaware that he was transforming bit by bit), Celia tried to abort the child by taking locally brewed concoctions (like the ones sold in Quiapo) but the young one hanged-on till the day he was born.

After giving birth and regaining enough strength, Celia brought the newborn in a Monastery, hoping that if the child grows there, his aswang being will be purged.

Kiddo grew in the care of the loving monks. They saw Kiddo's natural talent of creating improvised things from scratch. Everything went normal until his 13th birthday, Kiddo's first transformation happened. Because of this, the monks trained Kiddo to fight his bloodlust and controlling his Aswang abilities.

Kiddo decided to use his powers for the Good of others and against the Aswangs ravaging their land, and to find the whereabouts of his mother.
Because of this decision, the monks reffered Kiddo to an Ermitanyo living at the foot of Mount Arayat, Apung Pio. He trained the boy to better control his abilities through meditation and through the help of the MUTYA NG SAGING,and taught him the martial Art SIKARAN (refer to http://www.sikaran.com/history.htm).

And so the Adventures of Kiddo, the Hunter, started!
