QR Codes

A QR Code is a matrix code (or two-dimensional bar code) created by Japanese corporation Denso-Wave in 1994. The "QR" is derived from "Quick Response", as the creator intended the code to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed. QR Codes are common in Japan, where they are currently the most popular type of two dimensional codes. Moreover, most current Japanese mobile phones can read this code with their camera.

My boss and I were doing some research on making "Discount Cards" for our medicine lines. I was instructed to research on a coding system for these cards. I encountered magnetic stripe swipe cards, barcoded cards... but they are just too way out of budget for a trial run. I came across one that caught my attention... QR CODES.
Easy to use and easy to make! I'm still exploring the possibilities of these being used in our discount cards.

Then I remembered that I have a DC Kids mag that has a QR code... I thought, maybe my friends who have indie comics can use this somehow.

Well here are some links on QR Code creators that I find user-friendly.

I-Nigma.Com - it has an easy to use and understand QR Code maker and Reader. Explore the site and find out if your phone is compatible with their application.

Nokia Mobile Codes
- has links and instructions.

I hope with these infos my friends can make use of this in their comics.

By the way, here's a QR Code of mine.

The QR code by the way can be used instead for a barcode or as a promotional thingy. I'll research more of these QR codes.

By the way, I found this online QR decoder.
ZXing Decoder

You see, these QR Codes carry certain infos of the product they are attached to. For Example, you can put QR codes to your Business Card to make it a little more high-tech!
Here's an article about that: Click Here!

There! I hope this article will be usefull.
